Tell us about your company and role.

At Shopify, I partner with enterprise brands in the consumer goods space who want to transform their commerce business and deliver growth at scale.

Enterprise sales is an incredibly tough job that is not for the faint of heart, so for me, it’s critical that I believe in the solution I’m recommending to these brands. I wholeheartedly believe in the value of Shopify’s unified commerce offering, both as a professional and a consumer. This doesn’t make my job easy, but it does make it meaningful.

How would you describe yourself?

I’m a person who cares deeply about other people and finds joy in helping them be successful. I’m curious, driven and obsessed with my work. My colleagues and clients would say that I’m empathetic, but also never afraid to challenge people or have hard conversations, internally or externally. I love the types of conversations that most people shy away from.

What qualities make someone successful in the eCommerce industry?

A thirst for innovation, a focus on optimization, and a genuine desire to delight shoppers with your products and shopping experience.

What has been your biggest professional success so far?

Last year was the most thrilling, challenging, and rewarding one of my entire career. I got to work with incredible brands like TOMS, Paige, Molekule, and Lull, two of which have already launched on Shopify. Molekule and Lull made for remarkable case studies and it was surreal to see their successes documented and shared with the world. I also built amazing professional relationships, many of which evolved into friendships. My final 2023 highlight was creating and hosting Shopify’s first The Power Table: Strategies for Success event, an exclusive networking and dining experience for women executives in commerce. Seeing such an elite group of women leaders come together and lift each other up by sharing best practices with each other in a way that was really authentic and organic… that was a really proud moment for me.

What causes are you most passionate about?

For the past 6 years, I’ve lived with an invisible chronic illness that has completely changed my life and relationship with work. It has taught me how to advocate for myself, understand my worth, and identify and fight against ableism. Living with chronic illness can be an incredibly isolating experience. As a result, I’m passionate about removing the stigma around chronic illness and disability by increasing awareness, and helping other people like me feel seen and empowered. A few years ago, my friend and I started Chronically Iconic Club, a free online support community that aims to do just that.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing eCommerce brands?

I work specifically with enterprise brands interested in making the switch to Shopify because how they are currently running their business isn’t working. They’re usually using technology that is hindering their growth and agility, and/or is costing far too much money and resources to maintain in an already challenging economic climate. It’s an extremely competitive landscape and brands who are unable to deliver a frictionless commerce experience or keep up with the pace at which their competitors are innovating will fall behind.

What's your favorite loyalty program or subscription offering from an eCommerce brand?

Nuun has an amazing tier-based loyalty program that comes with great perks for members. Electrolytes have played an enormous role in helping me manage my health. There are a lot of electrolyte brands out there, and this program is one of their differentiators.

What do you geek out over?

Details and aesthetics. I love designing deliverables and curating experiences for brands because it allows me to tap into the part of me that is both creative and strategic. When I can find the perfect balance of the two, I go into a really special flow state. Time stands still, and I get lost in whatever it is I’m doing.
