Tell us about your company and role.
At Avex, our core mission is to craft exceptional digital products on Shopify Plus, fostering meaningful connections between brands and people through the seamless integration of creativity, commerce, technology, and culture. My role here at Avex is the Strategic Account Director, meaning my main goal is to support our client portfolio and lead strategic direction for the accounts. In the past, I built the retention marketing department and led the team there prior to moving into the client services sector.
How would you describe yourself?
I come from a family with a family business, so I always believed that you had to work hard for the things you want. I believe I take on challenges, am dedicated to my work, am a team player, and have a big heart for the people in my life. I am determined to help others, whether that’s through being a shoulder to cry to or helping make their brand successful.
What qualities make someone successful in the eCommerce industry?
To be successful in the eCommerce industry, you have to be ready to adapt at any point in time. eCommerce is an ever-evolving industry with many factors in its success, but being flexible, willing to continue to learn, and ready to take any challenge with a strategic and creative mind will help it continue to thrive.
What has been your biggest professional success so far?
One of my biggest professional successes has been joining Avex during the initial building stage and playing a significant role in its growth overall, especially in retention marketing. When I joined Avex, there were only two email clients and no formal retention processes in place, and in under two years, I created a functional department with multiple team members and a large client portfolio.
What causes are you most passionate about?
I’m very passionate about mental health causes. I think it’s essential to make sure people get the resources they need to manage their mental health. We are so overexposed to EVERYTHING nowadays, and it takes a toll on our minds. For me, I make my mental health a priority so I can be the best version of myself in my personal and professional lives.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing eCommerce brands?
The biggest challenge facing eCommerce brands is being able to stand out amongst the oversaturated market. Brands have to be able to present their positive attributes versus their competitors in a user-friendly way. Being able to capture and keep a customers attention is more challenging than ever.
What's your favorite loyalty program or subscription offering from an eCommerce brand?
One of my favorite loyalty programs that I utilize is the one that American Eagle provides. They are my primary store for clothing and the ease of earning rewards and incentives throughout the years encourage me to shop even when I wasn’t planning on it.
What do you geek out over?
A really good email design! I spent the majority of my career in retention, so when I see a well-done email that captures my attention and sticks to the brand’s ethos? *Chef’s kiss*
