Tell us about your company and role.

MAC Cosmetics has been a leader in the beauty space since they started in 1984. It’s a fast pace and exciting brand to work for with new products launching every month. I’m an eCommerce Content Associate for MAC Cosmetics so I oversee all the digital content that goes out via email, paid media, and on maccosmetics.com. But I see myself more as a storyteller. 

How would you describe yourself?

I am 100% a go-getter. I dream really big but I also work really hard to achieve those dreams. I think it stems from watching my mom be a single parent and build her career at the same time. I saw the power of hard work and confidence. I am also very emotional (I am a Pisces, shocker) and an empath. If my friends or loved ones are down, I am down with them. I try to keep a positive and calm mindset in an effort to share that energy with those around me. 

What qualities does an effective marketer need to have?

An effective marketer needs to be a good listener. Anyone can have opinions on what they think looks good or would sell well. However, it is ultimately the customers’ opinions that matter most. To be an effective marketer you have to be on social media or in conversation in which customers are sharing opinions on what they want to see from brands.

What has been your biggest professional success so far?

I was once featured in a Wall Street Journal article on recent grads trying to find jobs in a competitive landscape. The article highlighted my work at MAC Cosmetics and transitioning from an intern, to part time while still in school, to full time post-graduation. My photo was printed on the cover of the Exchange section. It was an extremely proud moment to physically see and feel my hard work being recognized. I think it will be hard to top that moment!

What causes are you most passionate about?

I am really passionate about low income areas and homes receiving better access to healthy food and holistic medicine. Apart from beauty, I spend my free time learning about health and wellness. I research nutrition, mindfulness practices, supplements, and functional medicine. I truly believe in the power of food as medicine. However, many parts of our country do not have access to healthy and fresh produce. My goal in life is to be able to financially support organizations that are bringing healthy food into low income areas. In New York City, I volunteer at God’s Love We Deliver, an organization whose mission is to cook and home-deliver nutritious, medically tailored meals for people too sick to shop or cook for themselves.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing eCommerce brands?

I believe one of the biggest challenges facing eCommerce brands right now is how discount-driven customers have become. Every time you go online shopping there is another promotion or sale happening. Brands have to walk the fine line between protecting margins while still giving customers the prices they want. 


What's your favorite loyalty program or subscription offering from an eCommerce brand?

MAC Lover Rewards! We just re-branded our entire rewards program and added new benefits. This re-brand has been many months in the making. It is such a great feeling to see everyone’s ideas and hard work come to life.
