Global eCommerce Marketing

“I prefer to lead by example and then entrust my team to succeed and fail.”

Tell us about where you work and what you do there.

I am the Global eCommerce Marketing Sr. Manager at UPS. I oversee the development and execution of integrated business solutions to enable SMBs to expand their digital presence. I manage strategic business relationships, identify and develop eCommerce tools, and implement strategic direction for testing and deploying new technology solutions.

How would you describe yourself?

I love encouraging others and helping people realize their true potential. Leadership and supporting others’ journey to success is my greatest joy. I love mentoring underserved youth girls and introducing them to new opportunities that may not be afforded to them. I am an African American woman originally from Illinois, now living in the greater area of Atlanta with my husband. While I love to dance, travel, and enjoy live entertainment, as a new mom a quiet nap has become my new happy time. I am a strong believer of faith and a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

What is your leadership style?

I prefer to lead by example and then entrust my team to succeed and fail. I like to encourage my team to take on new projects and assignments that require roles very unfamiliar to their current background. I then teach them how to pair their strengths with their weaknesses to develop new talents.

What do you think has been your biggest professional success so far?

My biggest success came from accepting a role as a Field Industry Manager in Southern California for UPS. When this opportunity came along, I was initially seen by some as unqualified, but applied anyway knowing I was more than prepared for this role. Stepping out on faith, I was selected for the job and that alone gave me more than enough confidence to consistently outperform expectations.

This position was new to our organization, and with that came a blank canvas and a license to write my own blueprint on how to drive market growth for a specific industry in my local market. I broke barriers by creating new processes, developing new talent, implementing revenue-generating strategies, and executing local promotional campaigns that were duplicated across the country. In this role, I met numerous incredible people that have shaped who I am today and allowed me to build a legacy of leadership and inspiration.

What goals do you have for 2021?

My goal for 2021 is to stress less, delegate more, and continue driving change.

What do you think is the next big trend in eCommerce?

I think online sellers and innovators will recognize the power of giving over receiving. Using AI and predictive analytics to get free products and trials into the hands of the right consumer before they know they need it will be the channel of influencer, loyalist, and advocacy to drive awareness, new customers, and profits.

Name an eCommerce brand you admire and why.

Target. Their ability to stay innovative, embody diversity, and increase loyalty is the secret to longevity. The real definition of marketing.

What do you geek out over?

Hands-free/cordless technology. Anything that helps me do more with less.
