Tell us about where you work and what you do there.
I am Co-founder & Co-CEO of Haus. I oversee everything consumer-facing, including brand, marketing, and comms.
How would you describe yourself?
Hmm, where to start? I’m literally half-Norwegian, half-redneck. I grew up in the rural South but have no accent. I moved to California ten years ago with $40 to my name. I have a higher risk tolerance than most people. I am married to (and run a company with) a hot farmer I found on OkCupid. And, I’m a mom of a toddler.
What do you think has been your biggest professional success so far?
Building Haus has been the most exciting for me because I’m in it right now. That said, I already checked off all my career goals off in my 20s, when I built a production company making brand work for Silicon Valley. I got to work with companies like Airbnb, Dropbox, Facebook, Fitbit, Google, Instagram, and Microsoft. My work was published in ABC, CNN, Elle, Fast Company, and more. It was a good run, but Haus was a bigger idea and I had to go for it.
Where do you find inspiration?
Everywhere. I’m always looking for it.
Name an eCommerce brand you admire and why.
Glossier. I love Emily’s natural founding story, how they approach brand and content, community, everything. They saw a generation neglected by corporate brands and made a brand for them. There’s a lot of parallels to what we’re trying to build with Haus.
We're curating an honoree playlist featuring all of your favorite songs! Name your top three.
Come On Home – Lijadu Sisters
Khala My Friend – Amanaz
Space Is The Place – Sun Ra
What do you geek out over?
Consumer trends, hotel decor, southern rap, grocery shopping in foreign countries.
What's your guilty pleasure?
Sleep. I get nine hours a night and won’t let anyone take that from me.
