Tell us about where you work and what you do there.
I’m the media strategist on the performance marketing team at Lulus and help determine and manage our customer acquisition and retention strategies. I work closely with our creative team, agency partners, and platforms to ensure we engage with our customers in a meaningful way.
How would you describe yourself?
I’m a California girl at heart and was born and raised in Marin County in the Bay Area (but with a heavy French influence in a bilingual, multicultural household!). Growing up near the mountains and wine country has really influenced the things I care about and strive to support through my lifestyle choices: our environment and sustainability. In my non-work life, I enjoy pilates (training to be an instructor), skiing, and spending time with my fiancé and our golden retriever, Ranger.
Innovation is at the heart of advancements in eCommerce. Do you have any thoughts or advice around maintaining an innovative edge?
Don’t be afraid to play — at Lulus, we love to test new ideas, no matter who or where they come from. Great ideas can come from anyone, and everyone on our team has their own unique perspective to offer that could illuminate new avenues!
What do you think has been your biggest professional success so far?
Transitioning from doing to influencing, which is definitely a forever work in progress. I think a big jump in everyone’s career is moving from being task-minded and checking off boxes to seeing the bigger picture and being able to lead or work with others towards a common goal. A big part of this is humility — I have worked really hard on this, because if people feel heard and understood, they will want to help you and work with you.
What goals do you have for 2022?
At the heart of it, people are what make a company, and culture is really important to me. I’d love to focus on identifying initiatives within the company and beyond my department where I can have an impact.
What do you think is the next big trend in eCommerce?
Personally, I think sustainability, which companies can achieve in numerous ways like product development, shipping and packaging, upcycling, or repair/rewear.
Name an eCommerce brand you admire and why.
Patagonia, all the way! I love their product but more importantly I love what this brand stands for. They are so big on sustainability and supporting the environment, and I love their approach to storytelling through film. Overall they have such a unique approach to marketing through impact, activism, and art.
What do you geek out over?
Good food and wine! As Anthony Bourdain said, “Food is everything we are.” I also love a good to-do list and make one every single weekend to feel accomplished.
