Tell us about your company and role.
I am the Co-Founder and CEO of Hero Packaging. Hero is Australia’s leading sustainable packaging company, servicing over 45,000 online retailers. I am also the author of “Sell Anything Online,” a book with actionable marketing advice for business owners to make more sales.
How would you describe yourself?
I like to execute before I think about it! I have never been a perfectionist and it’s my biggest strength and biggest weakness. I love creating and managing businesses because it gives me the freedom and flexibility to spend quality time with my husband and three daughters. Travel, watching Netflix, and long chats with friends are three things I truly value, but I am also a marketing nerd and I spend a lot of my spare time learning about trends and eCommerce data.
What qualities do you think a true innovator needs to have?
Grit. Confidence in their ability. Patience.
What has been your biggest professional success so far?
Raising crowd funded capital. Over 700 of our customers invested in Hero Packaging and we raised over $1.5 million. It felt incredible to know that people believed in the business.
What causes are you most passionate about?
Sustainability, specifically eliminating plastic for all eCommerce retailers.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing eCommerce brands?
Increased competition and crowded markets.
What's your favorite loyalty program or subscription offering from an eCommerce brand?
We use Yotpo for our packaging subscriptions and it now accounts for 20% of all revenue!
