Founder and CEO at Cheekbone Beauty

How would you describe yourself?

I would describe myself as hardworking, driven, and loyal.

What qualities do you think a successful founder needs to have?

I think that every founder needs to be consistent and resilient.

What has been your biggest professional success so far?

There are just so many things to be proud of. One of our biggest successes is definitely our relationships with Sephora Canada, and Thirteen Lune in The United States. In addition to that, it is so rewarding to see how Cheekbone Beauty is recognized for the work we do within our communities, and the rapid growth of our Cheekbone Beauty Scholarship Fund.

What causes are you most passionate about?

I am a big mental health advocate. Mental health concerns every human on the planet. If we look deeply into this issue, there is so much to be concerned about. It is truly an epidemic. As individuals, I think we have the power to support one another, and organizations have the ability to offer support and education to help de-stigmatize not feeling our best everyday.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing eCommerce brands?

Attention is expensive. Brands need to have a big differentiator — what makes us different from the next brand? We hope to stand out by being a pillar of representation for Indigenous youth across the world.

What's your favorite loyalty program or subscription offering from an eCommerce brand?

I love any points program that transfers into dollar savings! Who doesn’t love to save for their loyalty?!

What do you geek out over?

Sustainability. I am so passionate about the research and development that goes into our brand and products, and making sure everything we put out is as sustainable as possible — from ingredients to components.
